The Gretsch G5422DC-12 is a 12-string hollow body guitar from the Electromatic series, equipped with Black Top Filter'Tron pickups.
This great looking guitar brings you authentic 12-string electric guitar sounds carrying Gretsch's familiar aesthetics and sounds.
Instead of simply copying the popular ES-335 body shape, the G5422DC-12 features a "double-cutaway" body that is distinctively Gretsch. The body is made of 5-play maple and features sound-post bracing and elegant looking f holes. The guitar is available in either black or sunburst gloss urethane finish.
The neck is also made of maple, topped with a great looking rosewood bound fretboard. It has 22 medium jumbo frets with hump-block pearloid inlays to remind you of where you are playing at, and the neck has a scale length of 24.5".
Just like all the modern Electromatic series hollow body guitars, the Gretsch G5422DC-12 comes equipped with Black Top FilterTron pickups. These pickups are based on an early '70's Baldwin era Filter'Tron pickup. According to Gretsch, these pickups provide the same Gretsch sound but with added jangly top-end. The pickups are controlled via a 3-way pickup selector, independent volume knobs, a master tone knob and a master volume knob.
The hardware on this 12-string electric guitar is chrome plated, it features a Rosewood-based adjusto-matic bridge that is paired with vintage style open back tuners. The tailpiece features a "G" cutout, and finally, as a sign of approval from Gretsch, it has a silver plexi pickguard that comes with the Gretsch label.
Gretsch currently lists the G5422DC-12 guitar at $1,150. For more information and to check on other Electromatic models, you can head over to Gretsch.
