There are a few Guitar Kit companies where you can buy everything from body blanks to finished painted bodies but I hadn’t heard of Precision Guitar Kits until recently and they have some really nice kits available such as the “Salvaged Redwood Telecaster” you see above.
The salvaged Redwood gives the guitar a beautiful rich red color and that is a cap on an Alder body. What Precision Guitar Kits have done to make it even cooler is to add a brass, bright metal brass purfling running around the perimeter of the guitar.
Here are the specs on this kit:
  • Alder Telecaster style body
  • 1 13/16″ thick
  • Maple “S” neck with a beautiful rosewood fretboard
  • 25.5″ scale
  • 1 11/16″ nut width
  • Medium “C” back profile
  • 12″ fretboard radius
  • 21 medium jumbo frets
  • Dual-action stainless truss rod
  • 6mm position markers
And this stunning kit only costs $399.00 so just buy some nice handwound Tele pickups from someone like The Creamery and a few other pieces of hardware and you’re all set for a very reasonable price.
I’ve got my eye on the 59 LP Standard Kit Chambered which has a few available options such as 4A Quilted or Flame Maple cap. Throw in a couple of PAF Pro’s, a Tone Pros bridge etc. and get someone to stain it and there you go instant Zep!
